Home Remedies for a Dry Scalp might seem easy but very effective proven formula for ages.
In the winter, especially, when the air is
dry, you might find your skin scalp irritated, flaky and dry. When things
worsen, it leads to dandruff. It is easy to soothe dry skin – you simply apply
a body lotion, but the scalp can be a little tricky. You can still avoid
dryness of the scalp by taking some precautions and spending time on nourishing
your scalp:
It may be very cold during winters
depending on where you live, but don't use extremely hot water to wash your
hair. This robs the hair and the scalp of natural oils which keep it smooth.
Use lukewarm water instead.
If you already have a dry scalp, a massage
is the best way to get rid of the problem. With your fingertips, gently massage
your scalp. This increases circulation of blood and also unclogs sebaceous
glands (glands that secrete natural oil) that may have been blocked by dry,
dead skin. This also makes it easier to wash way the flakiness by dislodging
it.
A massage with oil, such as olive oil,
herbal oil or coconut oil is even better, lending extra oils to the hair and
scalp. If you heat up the oil a little before applying it, the massage will be
even more useful. Apply oil to the hair till it is saturated, and let it be for
a couple of hours. Then wash your hair properly, making sure you get out all
the oil. If the oil isn't washed away, you hair will look greasy and dirty.
Applying lemon to the scalp about half an
hour before a wash will also help better the condition.
